I do not think "wrong" is the proper characterization
He did not dispute the phenomena - he did not dispute the results
A bad analogy would be that of the difference in his work and Newtonian mechanics.
You can get to the moon with Newton but it does not hint at the nature of space/time.
Same with quantum - we can grind out results but we get no better incites into that realm.
