The metric system is inherently easy to understand. No need to memorize how many inches in a foot or feet in a mile.

I currently live overseas, where it’s much more common, and frankly, I like it. I still need help to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, but I’ve gotten good at converting kilometers to miles (mostly because I drive an American car with kph markings that are hard to see).
