It's Linux. The difference is that Linux is stable, reliable, and secure and Windows is none of those things.

I've used several versions of these single disk Linux systems. There are several like Knoppix that boot off a CD or DVD or thumb. This one, Tails, leaves no traces on the host computer. I am sure that this would be easy to do with a thumb drive.
