and can confirm that we use both which is really the worst of both worlds. Millimeters (metric) and mils (Imperial) is a common source of confusion. 1 millimeter = 39.37 mils.

The Mars Climate Orbiter was lost because because of a confusion between expressing force both in the metric term Newtons (N) and the Imperial term Pound-force (lbf).
