26. Yeah, I don't know of many other "escapees" from my school, either.

The only one I know of for sure is gay and really couldn't hide it, even back then, so he put up with a lot more BS than I did. But otherwise...yikes. One of my other friends from back then went immediately from graduation to a Lutheran college, got an education degree, and went right back to that high school to teach math and physics.

I actually had to "go dark" on FB - deleted my account and set up a new one where I'm only friends with former co-workers who don't have LinkedIn. Because not only were old classmates who wanted to get in touch invariably horrified by my liberal, bi, atheist, no-kids life, but it was actually my immediate FAMILY members who were posting epic political and religious screaming rants on my wall. In person, they don't have the guts to do that, but something about the internet takes away the filters.
