You know, I often hear the point of view expressed here on DU (the religion group especially), that religious views should be off-limits when it comes to deciding whom to vote for in an election.

I'd challenge anyone who thinks like that: how could you ever disregard the views of a political candidate who shares the ideas expressed by these evangelicals who can't wait for the end of the earth? These views are sadly enough not totally out of the mainstream in parts of this country. You'd have to be utterly insane and irresponsible to ignore such views and let someone like that near any kind of power, wouldn't you?

If I found someone like that teaching my children, I'd do anything in my power to cause them to lose their job, freedom of religion be damned. Religious views are just that, points of view, as fitting to be criticised as any of their views. That's not discrimination or bigotry, that's being a responsible citizen.
