In fact, there are various signs in local towns and neighborhoods proclaiming themselves to be "yakuza-free" or announcing some campaign to get rid of "boryokudan" ("violent gangs", the official reference to yakuza). There is also a nationwide organization dedicated to the elimination of boryokudan.
