1. Thank you for this! You are absolutely right about US complacency. There used to be a TV show

called Trading Spouses in which families would trade either their mothers or fathers for a couple of weeks to show each family how "the other half lives." I wish all Americans had the experience of trading countries with a country under authoritarian rule for a couple of weeks, months, or years so that they would better appreciate their freedoms.
