(7,309 posts)In the abstract (and in a very tangible way, too; I guess that's a paradox), we are the government! People tend to forget this.
Now, I obviously have my issues with the concrete way the government is constructed, but that's neither here nor there for the purposes of this conversation.
There are a myriad examples where private enterprise (I hate saying free-enterprise, ain't nothing free about that under capitalism; though, you can have free-markets under certain socialist tendencies much freer then this cancer we call capitalism) is horribly inefficient, and deliberately so (in those counter-intuitive ways where being inefficient yields profits). Yet, the so-called haters of socialism never want to discuss how private enterprise hurts the majority and enriches the minority.
Note: private enterprise in this scenario regards large scale industrial and multinational corporations. Not community business and what one would call "mom and pop" shops.
