(10,786 posts)Mind you, A&E in the UK gets its fair share of people coming through the door for minor things. People end up in A&E because either a) an ambulance brought them there, b) a medical professional told them to go there, or c) they were clueless and went to A&E anyway. The d) no insurance option isn't there.
Urgent care in the USA IMO leaves something to be desired. Urgent care clinics are not there 24/7. The "out of hours physician" is likely to either say "call in the morning" or "go to ER" - there generally isn't an out-of-hours clinic, except maybe for Saturday AM. And a house call? Highly unlikely unless you find a service that does and pay out-of-pocket. I reckon nights and weekends ER is busy because of INSURED patients needing "urgent" but not "emergency" care and they have nowhere to go.
