54. Damn, I did it the stupid way.

A friend took me to the emergency room close to our house instead of the VA hospital where I get everything free. I got a huge bill for two hours of nothing. I let it ride for a little while and on the first call from a private bill collector I paid a lower payment because I paid in cash. I realized I was paying for people who can't pay or won't pay. Personally, since I had about that amount, I don't begrudge the hospital for charging me. Would have been nice to have had better care, but, what can ya do.

Thank god for the VA. I've told people around me that even if it doesn't look like I can make the 40 to 50 minutes to the VA hospital. just take me anyway and let nature take it's course.
