One thing Bernie forgot to mention during the town hall [View all]
when the lady in the audience asked him the question: why would women want to vote for him over Hillary in regards to women's issues, implying that a President Hillary would be better for women because she is a woman.
That would have been the perfect moment to bring up his plan for Universal Maternity Leave (aka Family and Medical Leave). The other things he mentioned were good (raising MW, tuition free college, greater SS benefits for women) but those things aren't really women-specific. He did talk about Family and Medical Leave in regard to something else the moderator asked him about, but it would have been so much more effective had he brought it up when the lady in the audience asked him about his support of women's issues, and he could go into detail about how a PAID national maternity leave program would be a massive benefit for working mothers.
It would have been HUGE, because no other candidate is offering a plan for UNIVERSAL PAID MATERNITY LEAVE. It's great that he mentioned it during the town hall but timing is also important if you want to maximize the effectiveness of your message and in that sense it was a lost opportunity imo; and bringing it up at that moment would have really hit it home. Otherwise he did an awesome job.
