(1,089 posts)From what I've read and understand, Bernie is not an atheist. He simply chooses not to push it into people's faces in public, which I really respect given how so many Rs never STFU about how they love them some Republican Jesus, as he's the foundation of their hatred for basically everyone.
In fact, I'd guess - and let's be honest, all we can do is guess - that he's more publicly honest about his beliefs than Hillary or even Obama, whom I've always thought to be a closet agnostic. But again, that's just a guess. Religion is just part of the whole kabuki dance of being a public figure in this country, and I don't like that at all.
It's strange, too, in that atheists/agnostics now make up a pretty big part of the population. Something around 20-25 percent if I recall correctly, which makes them the second largest group. You'd think it wouldn't be political voodoo to just acknowledge what you believe or don't, but it still is.
