(7,419 posts)I prefer my phone nailed to wall where it belongs and I don't need a computer in my hands 24 hours a day. There are many like me that only use their computers at home. Fewer, much fewer find politics worth their time or trouble so the last thing they're going to do is go home and surf DU or any other site besides FB or what ever they might be in to.
Not everybody is connected even if they have access. Especially us older folks. My father for instance has a computer and internet and uses his computer as a DVD player and for email. That's it. In spite of his 6 children's best efforts, he'll never be connected to all that information much of which is bad information. So even if your 89 y/o internet surfer is getting access to information, is she savvy enough to spot some of the more professional smear jobs? Hell, smart people get conned everyday.
To summarize, I'd say the internet is changING everything but it hasn't changed all of us.
