(135,425 posts)If you are running for election, you might hire him. If you need a specific thing done, coordination at the county or state or regional or even national level, depending, this is the kind of guy you hire.
You pay him, he does the job. He knows the reporting requirements, he has a pretty good idea of what's legal to do, and what's illegal, and he will keep you out of trouble with the FEC in his management of junior personnel and volunteers.
If you don't keep paying him, and don't give him other jobs in your campaign, then he goes looking for other jobs to do.
For which he is paid.
He might even post pics of his campaign job work on his twitter feed or his facebook page.
This guy has been at this in some way or another, either working for campaigns or for local party outlets, since Obama's first run, at least.
He's a "veteran political operative."
It's what he gets paid to do.
