cultural paradigms are enormously hard to shift.

I look at the references about Jack Welch, Clint Eastwood, Lee Iacocca, and what I see is a cultural mindset that worked well in the 20th century but not so good now...

that's not a money issue, that's an experience issue, a well-known model of the world that suddenly doesn't work like it used to. Money can't explain 50% of the electorate, I think. Perhaps 10%, maybe 20 but I don't see how it can account for 50%.
