In reply to the discussion: Hillary Clinton tours run-down Harlem NYCHA building, vows to fight for low-income housing residents [View all]passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)Why, because New York hasn't voted yet.
Just like her showing up in Flint Michigan to get a photo op with the Mayor before Michigan voted. But now she doesn't even mention it any more.
Did you really think this was an impromptu act on her part that had nothing to do with the campaign or winning California votes?
Yet you all scream bloody murder that Bernie is using the Pope as a photo op to win Catholic votes, when in fact, Bernie did not plan this conference. He did not set it up as an event that would happen just before NY votes to win over all the Catholics, as you all imply.
He had nothing to do with this honor except be excited and proud to be invited. And that's been confirmed. And everyone in this country should be proud that he was invited to such an important conference about poverty and economic injustice and ecological urgency.
I am not upset that Hillary is using this trip to do a photo op. I do hope that she honors her word if she becomes President, and actually does work to help the poor as she has campaigned on.
Your lie about Bernie not showing concern for the poor in urban centers is just that...a lie. As a matter of fact we've discussed his efforts here about when he spoke out about it when the 94 crime bill was being passed. Even though he voted for the crime bill, he spoke out strongly about helping poor communities to help fix the problems of high unemployment and crime. He's been doing that his whole life, just not making a big deal of publicizing it for a photo op.
So good for Hillary for showing interest in helping poor communities. As a Presidential contender, she should do that. But good for Bernie too for doing the same his whole career, and for his invitation to Rome because they recognize him for his life time of fighting for this.
Your snide comment about us not caring about the poor who are voting republican, or for Hillary, is just nonsense. We care more about fixing poverty in this country than you do, or you'd be backing Bernie too.
