(814 posts)There's nothing ridiculous about that and having a COMMON SENSE stance on gun rights won him most of New York Precincts outside of the city.
It's about time any of the rabid anti-gun folks realize that their arguments on banning guns are as nonsensical and unrealistic as the anti-abortion folks, see: banning guns won't make crime go away like how banning abortions won't make those go away. It's an absurd sort of reasoning and is a breakdown in logic in both Republicans and Democrats amazingly enough. Don't tell me the anti-gun folks aren't like that because that's incorrect for some of them.
Regarding Hillary, her whole stance on that issue was a fabrication to throw red meat at a base that tends to be very opposed to them in general and is the only place Hillary can stake on the left that Bernie won't touch. Bernie lives in a state where many people hunt, largely for food and taking away those people's gun who wish to hunt or even defend themselves is not pragmatic for policy.
The gun issue would strengthen him in the general and could see him winning Kansas and other thought to be dyed in the wool Republican states. I'll even go so far as I think he may thaw certain issues in those states(Oklahoma especially) with gun rights as the bridge or opening that makes it possible.
Hillary, on the other hand, will be based over the head on the gun liability issue time and time again by whichever Republican runs against her.
