OMG, I can't believe how freaked out so many people are by Bernie working within a system set up to work this way. The super delegates never chose between Bernie and Hillary. They had to go with Hillary from the very beginning because she was the presumptive winner, and even if they might have preferred Bernie, she was "supposed" to win and they could not go against the establishment...or they would pay for it.
Now some brave ones have supported Bernie, but it's still pretty much the original "set-up" that gave Hillary the upper hand without even earning it. Not because all these people think Hillary is a better choice...but because they really had no choice.
So...if it becomes a contested convention, meaning neither candidate had enough pledged delegates to win the nomination (come on...the rules are the rules), which means it's still an open contest...
OMG, now some of the super delegates might actually get to switch to supporting Bernie, whom they may have really wanted to support in the first place.
So what is so terrible? What was terrible was the rigged situation in the beginning. If Bernie does contest, he can't force any super delegate to switch. If they do, it will be because they "want" to. GET IT? Or possibly their constituents push them to do it. Bernie has no power over them...but Hillary does.
Why shouldn't they be able to support who they want to support? Why should they have to be forced to go with the establishment?
Now, I don't think Bernie is going to win this way, unless he gets a lot more pledged delegates before the convention and closes the gap. And if that happens, then where is the crime?
I think I hear a lot of people panicking...and the sound of that is getting ugly. They thought after NY he would just give in...but he didn't and now they are freaking out because he might actually still have a legitimate chance to win the contest.
And all of a sudden people who claimed they "liked" him or even "loved" him even though they supported Hillary, suddenly hate him? Oh give me a break. You either never liked him, you were just playing a game, or you don't really hate him now...you are just scared.
It's OK to be scared. You don't have to overreact.
