(3,830 posts)that it would be good for Bernie to continue to
rally his supporters and work on developing
the movement he's started.
Sadly the smarter bet is that after the convention
the movement just drifts away a little bit at a time.
I say that because like most people who aren't political junkies
when the election is over they'll go back to their lives and put
politics on the backburner until the next presidential election.
A small percentage of them are part of the Anybody but Hillary group
and after she's president they won't have any further need for Bernie.
There's also a big difference between the factions within the coalition.
Some are mostly concerned with Enviro issue others with economic issues
or social justice issues.
When one ser of issues starts to become the clear priority
the supporters whose pet issue is being moved to the back will
probably move on.
Of course a lot of his supporters are activists and will stay involved the way
most activists do.
They'll champion issues and work where they can to make a difference
but those people are already doing that anyway.
Sorry if I came off as negative.
I'm really not negative at all but I have seen movements come and go.
They don't usually blow up so much as fade away.
I think it will be very difficult to keep the Bernie
coalition together after November.
