You are correct. It is the way it is for a reason. Control. It is easier to fix a few swing states than to fix the entire nation to "win" elections.
Not only have the primaries on the same day for all political parties, but get rid of the delegates too. The Super Delegates should never have come into existence. Their sole purpose is to throw the election to the pre-chosen winner when the people choose wrong.
