So, yes, as you said "...something else was being discussed." but, at that moment, it wasn't civil rights; it was our party's platform, a platform he was in charge of drafting, a platform that does not include opposition to the TPP.

For that reason, in my opinion, the anti-TPP delegates believe our party's platform will help the wealthy and the one percent.
