A while ago, I was exposed to one of the most horrific concepts I've ever heard of in my whole life: "Negging."
Basically, what negging consists of is when a guy tells a woman something to reduce her self-esteem so that she will feel like she has to sleep with him to gain his approval. I had somehow made it to the age of 26 without ever hearing of it and, when I did, I was horrified. An example of a somewhat more subtle version of it would be a guy saying, "You're not classically beautiful, but I guess I could find you attractive."
Trump is essentially trying to do this to the entire country. He keeps going around telling us how shitty all of the places we live are. Every place is a "disaster" or "looks like a warzone." Then he turns right around and says how he cares about them and wants them to do better and that they'll all love him for it. Now he's doing it with entire groups of people, like with the African American vote where he's saying that they all live in poverty and don't have any jobs, but that ultimately he'll get 95% of their vote because they'll all love how he treats them.
Trump is that sleazy bastard who tries low-grade manipulation to get laid. He's doing it now to try to get votes.
