Trump National Security Adviser on CNN [View all]

I just watched one of Trump's National Security Advisors being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN. He was defending the campaign's stance on Russia and the comments about Putin being more effective than Obama. It was uncomfortable to watch. The advisor's voice cracked in a couple of places due to nervousness.

They are walking a fine line by praising Putin's results but not his methods. They must know that taking this sort of stance will weaken our standing in the international community and make us less safe. They are putting themselves in a corner where they will either have to emulate the methods of the people they claim to respect or risk looking even weaker by admitting that our democracy is weaker due to our ineffective methods. It's impossible to completely separate Putin's results from his methods and I am extremely disappointed that Wolf did not press him harder on this point.
