(503 posts)I thought what she said made sense. They seem to think the system has failed them and don't know what to do about it.
I've worked for a couple of Republicans who probably hold all the deplorable views but were pretty quiet about it due to having to work with customers who are members of all those hated groups.
The problem, I think, is that they see the Democratic Party as the food stamp party, raising taxes to pay for "welfare chiselers" - and taking away their guns. They were raised Republican in a rural/small business area and can't really break away.
As for the other half, they deserve to be called out for their pure hatefullness even if it doesn't do any good. I've had a lot of years of having to shut up about my views. It's looking now like those views are becoming mainstream and I'm delighted about that.
