Atheists frequently do good things (helping people, the environment) without fearing punishment if they don't. We all know there are atheists who have done profoundly evil things, just as there are very religious (or seemingly very religious) people who have done profoundly evil things.
The measures of good and evil are on an axis (dimension) orthogonal to (crossing) the axis of religious piety or devotion.
It seemed that your post hinted at not believing in good/evil because you don't believe in religion, hinting that perhaps good/evil might be a religious or godly attribute.
