(1,325 posts)Lost in the mail? Check the math. The odds of your ballot getting lost in the mail is almost nil. The US Postal Service has a remarkable record of delivery. And as others have noted multiple times, you can check on the status of your ballot. Matching your signature is a problem? Not really something most people are concerned with. And you can get a re-do if you submit early. The biggest advantage in terms of counting votes? Mailing leaves a paper trail. This makes recounts an actual process, unlike electronic voting where recounts are just reviewing a record of machine counts. I believe that some of the machines are much better, but the notion that they haven't been hacked or might not be hacked is hard to swallow in this 1984 world of total surveillance we've been living under. And I'm just guessing, but Democrats probably use the mail system more than Republicans do - we certainly read more than they do, and the books we read are of a higher level. Seems like a great option.
