making inroads in numerous areas that had been traditionally Republican - John King felt the most important point and most important lesson from the reelection results was that none of this in any way, shape or form represented a shift to the left. He emphasized and emphasized over and over again that the Obama Administration and the Democrats must not alienate these independent voters by pursuing left-wing policies - because that is not what they are voting for. Conversely, whenever Republicans would win in traditional Democratic strongholds - John King always saw a sea change. When Scott Brown won Teddy's old seat - Massachusetts was once again rejecting liberalism and maturing in its worldview.
