I think I figured something out about why people gravitate to conservative politics... [View all]

The conservatives say, "don't worry about it. Things are FINE. Just let us take care of the power & money, we'll make sure you have your (fill in the blank shiny object ... addictive junk food; plastic crap from China via walmart, tee vee, other distractions) and life will be simple, tolerable, though marginal. Just let us run things, don't worry your heads about it. Here, have another PBR."

The progressives say, "WTF! There is more to life than this! It should not be a daily struggle to care for my family and find some personal fulfillment in life! We are entitled to more of the benefits of our society, our economy! Low wage jobs and nutrient-free fluff to fill our children's stomachs is not OK! Crappy public schools and worn-out parks is not our birthright! This is not about consumer goods! It is about music, art, education, community, innovation, sustainability!"

It takes more engagement, and is more of a hassle, to think like a progressive!
