It has been building my entire adult life, pretty much the 40 years you speak of, and it has gotten progressively worse.

The only thing I would disagree on is the general "they both are the same" elements.

No saying extreme left people are not completely recalcitrant, too.

But, to the extent that you have extreme elements driving things it is VERY heavily weighted with the republican party.
