(9,214 posts)vote in primaries. One thing I would change if I could. I will not support a party that is that far to the right of my thinking by joining it. In fact Carter probably was my last vote as a registered Democrat but I may have already left the party by that time, I don't remember nor do I care. I probably will rejoin next year just long enough to vote in the primary if it looks like Bernie will need my vote in the primary.
As for your saying not voting for a Dem is giving your vote to a Rep is just foolish. The only way you give your vote to a Republican is to vote for a Republican, anything else is either a vote for someone else or a non-vote. Using your logic I could say not voting for the most liberal candidate available is a vote for a conservative. If a party wants my vote they will run a candidate that deserves it, not someone a little less evil than the other guy. I am too old to keep voting against someone, I will find someone to vote for no matter what their affiliation. Not voting for the best candidate? Now that is a wasted vote.
