(21,210 posts)but I do believe he is our best hope, he has been fighting for the same causes for decades.
I think to understand the push-back on DU that is coming against certain actions (not movements) people really should look back at what was has been posted on DU for well over a year. This was before, I believe, that the BLM movement was formed.
IMHO I never thought anything good would come about by those on DU who began the idea that old, white liberals just needed to go away. People can find those threads on their own, just google some variety of words on GD or maybe even look in my journal as I think I saved a thread at that time.
Also I never thought dividing people by age was a good idea many years ago when the Dems spoke of Social Security and how there were only a couple of workers for each retiree. I know Obama said this, but he and the Dems in general, failed to mention the trillions borrowed from the SS Trust Fund. Loans were made from the Trust fund under both Repub and Dem administrations. What if the general budget paid back the Trust Fund with some tweaks?
A couple of weeks ago a certain poster, who is now on time out, told another DU'er that they just needed to listen and say nothing, that is all they needed to do. Basically shut the F up.
When something is not right we need to question. Just like I will continue to questions why BLM matter tweeted they "planned" to disrupt a Clinton rally in NH a couple of hours in advance and then showed up too late to be admitted.
We all need to work for a common cause regardless of race, age, gender. But that does not mean we should try to silence others and not question or speak out when we feel something is wrong.
