In reply to the discussion: Why Bernie Sanders Won’t Add Debates Without Hillary Clinton - Time [View all]senz
(11,945 posts)49. Thanks, SP, your reply is well thought-out
and I very much appreciate your civility. I think we're talking about different senses of the word "power." Of course Bernie wants the power required to materially and spiritually lift up the American people. Of course he does; otherwise I doubt he would have run for office 35 years ago. What I meant is the sense of personal power and self-importance that I believe the Clintons feed on. Perhaps it falls under the broad category of ego. Bernie doesn't seem to have that weakness yet, and I hope he will be able to resist it.
Yes, he holds the cards among Hillary's opponents. But I think he's got a few cards that the Hillary camp are watching uneasily, too.
Refreshing conversation, SP.

He is a very smart politician. He KNOWS he is being baited to get himself banned from the debates.

I'm so glad that Bernie Sanders is way too smart a man to take the bait being offered

Very similar sentiments are echoed in the op and by posters who support Sanders and Hillary alike.

The one where Hillary is a front runner the likes of which we don't often see.

Bernie wanted the DNC to add more debates. He is not interested in "going rogue".
