(24,010 posts)...like the Chilean leftists being pushed out of the airplanes into the sea, like the naked girl-child covered with Agent Orange running down the road in Vietnam, like the tens of thousands of U.S. soldiers and hundreds of thousands of other people with bodies being ripped apart, shot, burned, bombed and all life ended, in wars that those attending this gala event manufactured, and profited from.
Does Hillary Clinton wonder at the revolt against her in the Democratic Party, when she associates with such evil warmongers and war profiteers?
This is the problem. I don't think she does. I think she wonders, not what the revolt is about, but how she can "spin" whatever needs to be "spun" to end up in the White House.
I'm a realist. I understand that you CAN'T be president of the United States and NOT understand and utilize "spin." That has been true of all leaders, good and bad, from time immemorial. Even Gandhi and Martin Luther King understood and sometimes utilized "spin." The risk is that you become an empty "spinning top"--no substance, all "spin." That's how I react to Hillary Clinton now (as opposed to what she could have been--a great leader): an empty "spinning top."
I don't think it would even occur to her, now, how offensive a photo of her nuzzling up to Henry Kissinger is. She is "spinning" for the rich and powerful, and for the evil, and not for you and me, and not for the poor majority, and not for the millions of victims of U.S. militarism and corporatism, here and elsewhere.
When I get over the nausea I feel just thinking about this horrible "gala," I feel sad. But not for long. We, the people, can change this. We can reform our party and our country. I'm an optimistic realist. We CAN do this!
