It seems to me that the US Department of Education backs the privatization of education and the use of testing scores to end the careers of certified teachers. Charter schools want to hire someone for minimum wage without benefits to teach children while they take the profits just like in any other business. I am a teacher, but will not affiliate with AFT for the reason of the separate missions between the leaders and the teachers.
Definitely, these are Third Way policies. This administration has been a huge disappointment for the teachers he promised to support only to end up pushing an even worse version of the awful NCLB.
If we don't stop these neolibs, there will no public programs left in this country or anywhere they go. See what they're doing in the EU eg.
