(52 posts)Glad you are here retro. Don't blame you at all for not voting before. Even though I am a senior citizen, I never used to vote either. Probably for the same reasons as you. I didn't think my vote mattered, busy raising kids and working etc. If someone asked me if I was Dem or Rep tho, I would say republican because I was for small business and taking care of myself. I was too low information to actually look into it.
In fact my very first vote was for Obama, then I didn't think to vote in 2010. Bush had soured me on Republicans. Until I happened to Hear a nonsense comment from Rick Santorum during a Republican debate while flipping channels in 2011 I still had not paid attention. Then I said to myself, holy s**t! and started paying attention.
The pols didn't count me either. Their model is very limited in value because many, even an oldster like me, don't have land lines anymore, and I hadn't been a voter. They have some value, but will have to find a new model to keep up.
I think there are a lot of people of all ages that haven't paid attention, but are now because of Bernie. This is the first election I have ever contributed to, and the first time I am actually working for a presidential campaign.
I am new to this site too, just never introduced myself. I welcome you here.
