(5,621 posts)He explained why he hadn't felt the need to register or vote in the beginning of his OP. I completely understood and I am considered an old fart (or lady, if you prefer). I've been voting since I was 18, and the only votes that I am proud of was for Jimmy Carter, although my primary vote for Jesse Jackson comes close. I left the dem party after Gore 'lost', or should I say the dem party left me. I normally vote dem down ticket, but sometimes skip voting for President (I live in a blue state). As for Obama, didn't like him or Hillary. I didn't care who won the primary, because they were basically the same, I really couldn't see any difference in the two. His Presidency is pretty much the way I thought it was going to go. Kow tow to the rich, ignore the people, Hillary will be the same. We heard his leftest promises and then he returned to his conservative center, Hillary is following the same game plan. Worked for Obama, why not for her.
If you think Obama is popular, you should really talk to people on the streets, to them he is, meh. Bernie is a breath of fresh air, people are excited about him, just like they were for Obama. But, this time they know they can trust Bernie, which is a BIG deal in politics. This is why he is getting first time voters, frustrated voters, sane Republican voters and voters who stopped voting because things just stayed the same, no matter who you voted for.
Btw, I am also an indie who turned dem for the primary, but unless Bernie wins, I don't expect to stay in the dem party.
