From my p.o.v., Sanders doesn't appear to seriously want to be president. It appears as if he just wants a national platform to get his message out.
Watching his campaign, it appears as if Sanders is running as a candidate for a seat in the U.S. House, not as a presidential candidate for the White House. He hasn't made any inroads garnering support from congressional Democrats - or Republicans, for that matter - and he's running on policies that he knows - or should know - a president can never make happen because those policies will need support in Congress in order to materialize. And we all know Sanders has few, if any, supporters in Congress.
Sanders has been in Congress for 25 years. He knows the deal. He knows what it takes to run for president. He's seen so many presidential campaigns. So why isn't he running one? That's why I was initially baffled by his stump speeches,. They're stump speeches that over-promise and what a candidate for Congress would run on, not a serious presidential candidate.
