(135,425 posts)Kasich had a 60 second ad running in heavy rotation a couple of months ago. What he'd do is run the full ad every once in a while, and then run fifteen and thirty second edited snippets of the same ad shortly afterward, to basically feed the ideas to the viewers in easily digestable pieces.
That ad -- and it was a weird one-- lots of yammering about budgets, shot of little kids, American flag, some blah-blah-blah that suggested he was the only adult in the room--was his "breakout moment" that got him off the Kid's Table and into the Grownup's Brigade in those crazy GOP debates. It lifted him out of obscurity, but that is what "heavy rotation" will do.
Mitt won the MA governorship on Disney-colored cartoonish ads in front of a Cape Cod church (translation--I won't infect you with my MORMONISM!!!) while insisting that he would preserve "choice" in the Commonwealth. Those ads ran CONSTANTLY. Money talks, he won.
I haven't seen the ad playing on TV yet, but I didn't see much TV today. I did see it played on a few news programs (always a clever idea to roll out an ad in a way that the media takes note).
