I tend to go the conceptual route, thinking about fairness, equality, the importance of the individual, a just system that honors and serves all its citizens, and I think a lot about the "Founding Fathers" who are heroes of mine.

But of course, all of this has a common thread to it, and when you boil those noble concepts down to their emotional core, it is empathy. That is what we're talking about. It is also the core of the teachings of the Torah and of Jesus. Empathy underlies equality, fairness, humility, service. Empathy, if we ever get good at it, could change the human race.

Pinebox, I don't know how old you are, but you could take your deep understanding and formulate a life plan from it. It could inspire your choices, and you might end up making an important contribution to humankind, in some respect, even if it seems small at first. Joseph Campbell advised people to "follow your bliss." Makes excellent sense.
