(15,427 posts)I think that the establishment and the oligarchs who back them have very much underestimated the deep anger of Americans at the status quo. On the right, they are supporting a dangerous racist demagogue in chest pounding nationalism. This must drive the people who really call the shots nuts, because they want a corporate government - HW Bush's 'new world order.' They are making the move now, through TPP and TISA, which will help the neoliberal 'free market' capitalism metastatise through the industrialized world.
Then on the left, we have us. I like to think we're the good guys. Many are supporting Bernie because he's the most honest candidate we've had in, well, my lifetime at least. I was alive concurrently with Jack and Bobby, of course, but was too young at that time to really be aware. Bernie cares, and his positions reflect all the positions I've taken and believed in all these years.
But watch. Both the right and the left are scaring the hell out of the billionaires - the quiet ones whose names you wouldn't really recognize - the ones who call all the shots around the world.
So what's a billionaire to do?
I know - let's have a nice WAR. That will get everyone back on track...Even now, you see, the corporate owned media propaganda organs and hate talk radio are screaming for 'boots on the ground.'
You know, I'm a political junkie enough to be fascinated with how this all plays out. That said, I hope the Dems voting in the primary have enough sense to pick the candidate that is actually going to represent their interests. Hope I haven't offended you - if you support Clinton, fine. I just think we need some real change.
