It is an ignorant phrase because it paints all disagreements even minor ones as being based on emotion instead of examining what may well be worthwhile differences of opinion where a consensus could possibly be reached if an attempt is made.

Hillary is a fine politician who made a disastrous choice when she had a chance to stand up. There is no doubt that she is the best qualified candidate for the presidency in terms of her extraordinarily broad, political career and experience.

But shouldn't politicians at least try to stand up for what is right? For all we know, if Hillary would have stood up against the Iraq war, she would likely have been elected president in 2008.
