In reply to the discussion: Americans Get Testy With Media After It Disrupts a Presser on Poverty to Ask About ISIS. [View all]Orrex
(66,585 posts)It's annoying but true: the press will ask what it wants to ask, and what it wants is to generate the most clicks.
Sanders is in a tough spot here. He can't simply eject the "journalists" because then he'd invite comparisons to Trump, and the media would have a field day.
But he can't duck the question, either, or at least he needs to do it more artfully. His supporters will praise his straight-talking dismissal of the question, but for those not on the team it looks petulant and amateurish, and appearances count for a great deal.
If he wants to talk about just one subject of his choosing, then he should keep the press away from his appearances. But if he wants to get his message out there, he has to accept that some questions might not be to his liking, and he'll have tp come up with a response that doesn't simply play to his supporters.
