the arrogance of power, privilege and wealth. He's used to being surrounded by people who are socially beneath him, so he is not accustomed to taking their feelings or social customs into account. From his pedestal, he thinks he has the authority to pass judgment on everyone and issue edicts changing the facts without being questioned. One writer described his families position in his church as Mormon Royalty. When you are used to being treated like a prince, it's hard to come back down to earth.
