(33,073 posts)the only thing that will really matter is if the admin state that they have a ZERO TOLERANCE for sexist posts. They clearly stated a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for homophobic posts and have repeatedly removed posters who didn't get it.
Sometimes the admin had to be reminded of their own ZERO TOLERANCE policy. I served on MIRT for six months and during that time I kept a record of the number of posters banned by the admin because of the policy on homophobia. I also kept a record of the number of posters removed for sexist posts by the admin. The ratio was about 4 (homophobs) to 1 (sexist). Plus the number of sexist posts on DU were several times greater than homophobic posters so the effective ratio of removed posters would seem to run more like 500 to 1.
Even more importantly, while I was serving on MIRT the clearly articulated ZERO TOLERANCE policy on homophobia and transphobia from the admin was used by MIRT to remove new posters who made homophobic and transphobic remarks. There is no such tool for MIRT to use regarding the low posting sexists.
Perhaps this is the rub. Maybe the admin think that too many new posters will be PPRed by MIRT for their sexist posts if they articulate a ZERO TOLERANCE policy regarding sexism.
