And the exceptions don't have religion teaching them not to do it, so what does that tell you?
There are a few cultures throughout history which have not been patriarchal. Very few. IMO religion was not the cause of that situation, it was the result.
IMO patriarchy is the root of women's oppression. You obviously consider it to be religion. So be it, agree to disagree.
