says Barbara Walker in one of her books "Restoring the Goddess"

Barbara Walker, a scholar, wrote in one of her books how she started doing the research on the bible archaeology/mythology:

"...then, craziest of all, there was the story of a unique male childbirth (Gen. 2:21-22) that made Eve the daughter of Adam, and their union, therefore, an incestuous one. I found out only years later that the Adam's rib story was concocted especially to give man primacy over woman, but the biblical version wasn't original. It was copied from a much older Babylonian myth of the Goddess Nin-Ti, "Lady of the Rib," who invented childbirth by allowing woman to form their babies' bones in utero out of their own maternal ribs."

"Patriarchal Adam himself was a transformation of an earlier female principle of birth giving, Adamah, meaning "bloody clay," which male scholars more delicately translated "red earth" to disguise its original implications...."
