was getting the chance to serve on the board of a battered women's shelter.

It was full filling and yet so sad as I learned more and more about the way a surprising number of men treat their domestic partners.

We worked, of course, on funding the shelter, but we also worked on trying to get more of the police departments to accept the prevalence of domestic violence in all strata of society.

Too many people see the brutish Stanley Kowalski as the poster boy for Domestic Violence and far too many still believe that the "good" people, meaning the upper classes, are immune to something as primitive as spousal violence.

Anyway, I was able to meet some great, dedicated people while coming to grips with the way my Dad treated my mother.

It's a problem that i don't think will ever go away.

All I think what we can do is raise the awareness of Domestic Violence and also make it known that those who are victims have a place to go.

Well, that's my ten cents.

Oh and remember this, ten bucks goes a long way to help the shelters feed those needing help so desperately. Every bit helps get someone back on the road to a life without violence.
