No, it's Welsh naming conventions that were done as a plot against their descendants.

My paternal great grandparents came from Bala to Arvonia, Kansas - one of many planned Welsh communities in the US. I'm Welsh through and through on my mother's side and Lithuanian on my fathers; an odd mix until one considers the two languages are related!
