1. Not sure I understand - you just want to find the non-mobile link for that article?

This seems to work for that site:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jul/29/syria-bashar-al-assad?cat=world&type=article

Just change the m at the beginning of the web address to www. At least that works for me (desktop PC - FireFox on Windows).

[div style="margin-left:3.5em; text-indent:-3.5em;"]ETA - Or better yet, scroll to the end of the mobile page and copy their Desktop site link:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jul/29/syria-bashar-al-assad?mobile-redirect=false

Or perhaps delete the stuff after the question mark in the link and maybe desktop users will get the desktop version and mobile users will get the mobile version. (Just checked with a mobile User Agent and that is what seems to happen - desktop users get the desktop version and mobile users are redirected to the mobile version. I should add that is also what happens with the first link I posted - just changing the m to www.)
